MANCHACA, TEXAS (pronounced “MAN-shack” by locals) is located 10 miles southwest of downtown Austin in southwestern Travis County. It was named for nearby Manchaca Springs, where José Antonio Menchaca once camped. First settled in the mid 1800’s, Manchaca was given new life in 1881 when the International-Great Northern Railroad completed its track between Austin and Laredo.

Manchaca is known for its pastoral beauty and relaxed lifestyle. Homes in Manchaca generally have large lots and a country charm that makes Austin feel far away despite being convenient and close by. The mixture of old ranches, small bungalows, and luxurious new construction means there are homes to suit nearly every budget and lifestyle.
