As we enter the Holiday season it’s a great opportunity to join in some of Central Texas’ best traditions. Make sure to visit some of these excellent attractions before the end of the year.
Mozart’s Annual Light Show
November 17 – January 1 | Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin. Starting at 6 p.m. each evening, and replaying at the top of every hour until closing, enjoy dazzling lights set to music! The lights show will happen every night, excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Don’t miss out on all the FREE holiday fun!
Zilker Holiday Trail
November 27 – December 31 from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m. | Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Rd, Austin. Each year, the Austin community eagerly awaits the lighting of the 155-foot tall Zilker Tree as a symbol of the upcoming holiday season. The tree will be lit nightly from November 27 through the end of the year, but note that area roads will be closed for the Trail of Lights through December 10-23. FREE!
Austin Trail of Lights
December 9-23 from 6-10 p.m. | Zilker Park, Austin. Visit the North Pole at the Trail of Lights to share your holiday wish list with Santa at Santa’s House, stop in Santa’s Workshop for a photo and a variety of interactive experiences and more! Entry to the Trail of Lights is FREE from December 8-14. From December 15-17 and 20-23, general admission is $3 for guests age 12 and up. Tickets available here. Children 11 and under are FREE every night, with a paid general admission adult. Parking passes and shuttle tickets are also available online.
Lost Pines Christmas River of Lights
November 25 – December 28 from 5:30-10 p.m. | Fisherman’s Park, 1200 Willow St., Bastrop. Take in the FREE River of Lights, 120 lighted displays in a variety of seasonal themes lining Bastrop’s scenic Colorado River Walk and enhanced by music. To access this one-half mile promenade, come down the stairs west of the intersection of Main and Pine Streets or select the fully accessible entrance at Fisherman’s Park on Farm Street. The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce and community organizations and individuals generously provide this traditional treat enjoyed by all ages and by visitors and locals alike.
Trail of Lights
December 7-9 and 14-17 from 6-10 p.m. | Historic Stagecoach Park, 880 Main Street, Buda. A FREE holiday event filled with dazzling lights, entertainment, hot beverages, and more. No pets allowed on the trail. Park at Cabela’s (free) in parking lot H and a shuttle will take you to and from Stagecoach Park from there.
Rhodes Family Christmas
November 23 – January 1 | 2410 Sharon Dr, Cedar Park. Enjoy the Christmas spirit at this house in Cedar Park, starting on Thanksgiving at 6 p.m. It is also a collection site for the Cedar Park Area Food Bank, so please bring a donation of food to the food bank. Check Facebook for updates.
Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour & Christmas Towne
December 17 – 23 | Old Settlers Park, Round Rock. Experience the fourth annual Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour featuring all new displays and a bigger and brighter Christmas Towne. Dates and times are Thursday, December 14 from 5-9 p.m., Friday, December 15 from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, December 16 from 2-10 p.m., Sunday, December 17 from 2-9 p.m., Monday, December 18 from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, December 19 from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, December 20 from 5-9 p.m., Thursday, December 21 from 5-10 p.m., Friday, December 22 from 2-10 p.m., Saturday, December 23 from 2-10 p.m. With 2 million lights, the 1.5-mile path is the must-see event of the season. Christmas Towne features light displays, full-scale carnival rides, a light maze, pedal go-kart rides, holiday food, entertainment and more. Rock’N Lights is $15 per car. Get a coupon for select nights here. Admission to Christmas Towne is FREE (tickets for carnival available for purchase). The entrance to Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour is located at Old Settlers Park. Enter the park at 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd.
Shady Oak Christmas Display
Starting November 24 | 107 Shady Oak Drive, Georgetown. FREE neighborhood lights display. Tune to FM 95.9 to enjoy music along with this house’s lights. Sunday to Thursday: 5:45-10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 5:45-11 p.m. Check Facebook for weather updates.
November 24 – December 31 | Johnson City. The twinkliest town in the hill country celebrates its annual Lights Spectacular! Johnson City transforms itself from a slow-paced, presidential hometown nestled on the banks of the Pedernales River, into a bright beacon of light like a guiding star, welcoming visitors with good old-fashioned Christmas cheer. The spectacular courthouse lighting ceremony and fireworks on Friday, November 24th kicks off the festival with more than a million lights which fill three city blocks including the Courthouse, City Park, and Pedernales Electric Co-op headquarters. See the schedule of events. The season-long celebration is family and pet-friendly and lasts until December 31st. FREE!
Walkway of Lights
November 17 – January 1 from 6-10 p.m. | Lakeside Park, Buena Vista, Marble Falls. Over 2 million lights transform Lakeside Park. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, get a photo with Santa, and take a stroll through the breathtaking winter wonderland that is Walkway of Lights. Open nightly, weather permitting, 6-10 p.m. Please note! This is an outdoor event. If the ground is wet, they are unable to open Walkway as it creates a safety hazard for visitors. For updates regarding Walkway, please call 844-635-4448. FREE!
